Bio

Rob DeLoach was born in Atlanta in January of 1976, and was exposed to art and creative work from birth. He and five sisters grew up in a creative environment with an architect and painter father, and photographer and craftworker mother. In 1998 Rob was the second graduate in the history of Hampden-Sydney College, in Virginia, to earn a BFA in studio art. A four-year starter on his college football team, his primary goal after school was to play professional football. In 1999, while being groomed for the NFL by his agent and trainer, Rob discovered he had an underlying, life threatening digestive health issue that led to multiple surgeries and the end of his athletic career.

Long and ongoing battles from multiple surgeries and recoveries plummeted Rob into a dark depression. During that time Rob rediscovered his passion for creating works of art which provided the powerful healing therapy needed to rediscover his spirit and purpose. Most focused in painting and mixed media work, Rob’s artistic and expressive talents are best transpired in the forms of natural and earth elements such as wood, trees and geometric configurations. Rob’s art is heavily influenced by growth, color, energy, physical dominance, and the chaos and order of the natural world. His work is typically created on wood panels, or on reclaimed cross cuts of trees whose wood grain patterns are honored as a part of the completed work.

Rob’s art has been exhibited in numerous group and solo shows, and is included in private collections around the world. He was commissioned to create work for The University of Maryland and The Georgia Department of Trade and Tourism. Rob’s work has been featured on several major network television shows such as ABC’s Extreme Home Makeover, and by prominent international music stars including Ziggy Marley and George Clinton. Rob is married to a brilliant marine biologist and they are blessed with their daughter River and son Koa. They currently split time between Asheville and O’ahu where they are bathed by a daily dose of divine natural inspiration.
